Antique Books - Worth the Reading

An antique book is more than a collection of pages by your favorite author. It is a piece of history, a glimpse into the past. One in which the binding was done by hand the paper often likewise and if far back enough in time, the pen was a quill.

There are many factors which influence the value of an antique book, as in all antiques. First there is the condition of the book. The binding, the pages, whether dog-eared or torn, or God forbid, missing. The pages may have notes written on them. (Which can often be valuable in themselves if penned by a famous person or under unusual circumstances) or they may be damaged or stained or any number of factors which will affect their desirability. In the same way if a book is signed by it?s author this usually increases it?s price, although in the modern world not necessarily as "book signings" are all too common as a marketing tool and have helped to downplay the importance of a signed edition. All of these factors contribute to the overall value of your antique book.

The overall availability is a factor in price but is not necessarily the main factor as a book may be hard to find but not desirable. In other words it may be rare but nobody wants it! Confusing? Yes it can be. It is prudent to consult a dealer to appraise your antique book whether for insurance purposes or because you are attempting to sell it. In the final analysis, antiques are always only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

Appraisals Dealers usually need to see the book itself in order to identify and appraise it. You may submit photographs if you cannot see the dealer in person due to distance or time. They will require usually a photograph of the title page, the back side of the title page (also called the copyright page), the first and last pages of text, and the outer covers and spine in order to evaluate an individual copy. It is best to have very close up, quality photographs if you must go this route. If you are not proficient with a digital camera, ask one of your friends to do it for you. The popularity of digital cameras today makes quality photos easy to accomplish. Do not try and photocopy the book! This produces very poor results and may in fact damage the book due to the pressure exerted upon the spine in this process.

You often hear the phrase "first edition" in reference to books and this can influence the price of the book if there were, in fact more than one edition! Many times there were not. Be careful when someone touts the first edition status of an antique book and attempt to determine for yourself if there were indeed subsequent editions. Again remember to use all of the resources online and elsewhere to obtain valuable and often free information on your antique book. There are several national societies of book dealers, "antiquarians" and of course appraisers that you may take advantage of in the search for information. There are also book collecting societies that you may investigate. Take your time and learn all you can before you buy or sell your antique book.

Black Contact Paper, 18" x 75'

Black Contact Paper, 18" x 75'
Adds decorative accents to any horizontal or vertical surface. Each roll features an easy-to-peel liner and an adhesive that allows it to be repositioned during installation without leaving a sticky residue. It’s easy to apply, easy to remove, and easy to keep clean. Simply cut to length and shape for a custom application.

Customer Review: contact paper has a zillion uses!

I have always liked the simplicity of using contact paper to "clean up" otherwise old or messy looking spaces. I am not saying that I would use contact paper to cover furniture in the home if you are wanting a classy or "rich" look! But, as a school teacher teaching in a very old building with very old tables that are dull and mismatched and have little finish left on them to clean them properly...a little contact paper really can pull together the "look" and it is very easy to clean! I have used contact paper to cover gross looking tiles on classroom walls, to dress up my old chipped desk, dented file cabinet and even to cover containers such as margarine tubs or juice cans - there is such a variety of colors and patterns out there that you can coordinate both to come up with a solution to a drab decor! It sticks smoothly and evenly, takes a short time to complete the job, wears well over time (as long as you are careful not to purposely abuse the area or put it on something that will obviously get mistreated!)

Children appreciate a classroom that is fresh and interesting and "fun" to work in....contact paper has always come through for me in these 16 years of teaching and one more thing....you can change it out inexpensively as you wish.

Customer Review: I've had a good experience with Quickbooks Pro for Mac

I realize there are quite a few negative reviews here, but I have had nothing but good result from this program. My wife and I run a consulting firm and the fact that Quickbooks has a consulting firm set-up feature sold me on it. We do not need to track sales or inventory, and Quickbooks was able to make that distinction and set up our business just the way it needed to be. The Business Walkthrough is a great feature and made setting up shop very simple.

I was a little intimidated in the beginning, since I have little accounting experience. But I printed out and read the section on Consulting from the help document and everything became more clear to me. Now that I have a better grasp of the features I am much more comfortable with the program. It reminds me a lot of Quicken I use for personal finance, which helps with the comfort factor.

I downloaded the Trial first, and was able to perform all functions and even set up the company. I wanted to see if it would afford everything I needed, and it did. I would recommend people try it first, to see if it gives you everything you are looking for.

My only complaint is the update pricing, or lack there of. Intuit should offer discounts to it's loyal customers.

I would recommend this program to anyone in the consulting field due to the defined business model it can spit out. I like not having all the extra accounts and expenses I don't need to track.

Customer Review: Intuit makes Microsoft seem user friendly

The only thing worse that Quickbooks for Windows is Quickbooks for Mac. As users of both products, I agree completely with the multiple negative reviews posted earlier. Intuit's refusal to support bugs within their software is unethical. I'd say criminal, but since we all have to agree to a disclaimer that no piece of software comes with any guarantee to do anything, anytime, anywhere, there's no legal recourse.

When are the consumer protection groups going to wake up and go after software companies for their refusal to take responsibility for their products, with Intuit at the head of the line? When are we consumers going to wake up and tell our accountants to take their requirement we use Quickbooks and give us some real alternatives?

I suppose a big part of the problem is that there aren't any decent alternatives. Quickbooks seems to have killed most of them off - but you might take a look at the open source GnuCash program. Perhaps it can morph into a Quickbooks alternative.

Customer Review: Auto shut off is annoying

Seems reliable, quiet, and fast enough... but i really don't like the auto shut off feature. If you don't use it for 10 minutues it shuts down. When you try to access a file from it again, it goes back on. I could be working on a file, step away for a minute, then come back to it and save... and then it has to spin up again just to save. This takes a few seconds every time this happens, which slows me down.

Also... I am unsure of the longevity of an electronic item which is constantly going on and off. In any electronic device, a surge is sent through the device when powering up. We all know that this process of starting up is what wears electronics out, and decreases their life.

So.... if there is someone out there that knows how to turn this feature off... please let me know. I would love it if without auto shut off.

Customer Review: Great price for the amount of storage.

This is the second Western Digital HD that I purchased and I am very happy with the ease and speed of transfers.

Wii Zapper with Link's Crossbow Training

Wii Zapper with Link's Crossbow Training
With the Wii Zapper, your game shooting experience is guarenteed to take on a whole other dimension. Your Wii remote and nunchuck fit snugly into the Zapper, still working as well as before, only now in a shape that, when simulating the use of a weapon such as a gun or bow, allows for a steadier hand that is much less likely to get tired. Included with the Zapper is Link's Crossbow Training for the Wii, a clever and engaging shooting game set in the world of Twilight Princess that includes 27 different levels, several different game modes and multiplayer capability up to four people. Link's Crossbow Training is ESRB Rated T for Teen.

Customer Review: Wii Crapper

Nintendo is selling you a two cent piece of plastic and a video game that will make its way to bargain bins around the world for less than two dollars in a few months. The Wii Zapper isn't needed to play shooters on the Wii. In fact it only hinders the gameplay with a poorly implemented trigger that doesn't feel as tight as actually pressing the B button on the wii remote yourself. I am astounded that Nintendo has the guts to release this for twenty dollars on the unsuspecting public. Its hardly worth what they sell it for and you'll end up with a useless hunk of junk cluttering your home and years later you'll wonder why you even wasted your time and money. You can play all of the shooters with just the wii remote and nunchuck.

As for the game; Link's Crossbow Training will hold your interest for about five minutes you might as well just purchase Ghost Squard for thirty bucks and get a full game for the near 20 you'll spend for what barely amounts to a game and a useless hunk of junk.

Customer Review: Zapping

Well, sure enough Link's Crossbow Training is fun, but it's more like it's name: training. The Wii Zapper is slightly difficult for use, especially if you want to try for rapid fire. The game is simply there to help people get used to wielding it while playing other games where it might have use. Otherwise, it's not a must-have.

Beowulf (Unrated Director's Cut)

Beowulf (Unrated Director's Cut)
Spectacular animated action scenes turn the ancient epic poem Beowulf into a modern fantasy movie, while motion-capture technology transforms plump actor Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast) into a burly Nordic warrior. When a Danish kingdom is threatened by the monster Grendel (voiced and physicalized by Crispin Glover, River's Edge), Beowulf--lured by the promise of heroic glory--comes to rescue them. He succeeds, but falls prey to the seductive power of Grendel's mother, played by Angelina Jolie... and as Jolie's pneumatically animated form rises from an underground lagoon with demon-claw high heels, it becomes clear that we're leaving the original epic far, far behind. Regrettably, the motion-capture process has made only modest improvements since The Polar Express; while the characters' eyes no longer look so flat and zombie-like, their faces remain inexpressive and movements are still wooden. As a result, the most effective sequences feature wildly animated battles and the most vivid character is Grendel, whose grotesqueness ends up making him far more sympathetic than any of the mannequin-like human beings. The meant-to-be-titillating images of a naked Jolie resemble an inflatable doll more than a living, breathing woman (or succubus, as the case may be). But the fights--particularly Grendel's initial assault on the celebration hut--pop with lushly animated gore and violence. Also featuring the CGI-muffled talents of Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs), Robin Wright Penn (The Princess Bride), and John Malkovich (Dangerous Liaisons). --Bret Fetzer

Customer Review: Beouwulf

Have not watched it yet, so I can really pass on my take on the movie. I heard lots of good things about the movie from others and wanted to own it.

Customer Review: Flawed in the Re-telling

There are many good things in this movie: The actual characters from the Epic, the basic setting, the intense violence, Grendel, even Grendel's mother. However, and I admit that I am biased here,I just don't think you can re-write a mythic tale that has survived for 1000 years to satisfy a modern director's idea of a good plot.

This movie is not Beowulf, it is a movie based upon the Beowulf epic. As such, it changes the central theme of the actual epic: The war between heaven hell being fought on earth as a struggle between good and evil, man and monster. I suppose that modern ideas of heroism can not accept the mythic heroism of the epic, but I feel that those very ideas are what make the original epic a truly great story.

Taking those elements out make this movie a morality tale about a false hero reaching redemption at last. The movie reflects the cynicism of the modern era I suppose, but it loses the epic qualities of the original poem.

The Jungle Book (40th Anniversary Platinum Edition)

The Jungle Book (40th Anniversary Platinum Edition)
One of the most popular Disney films ever, THE JUNGLE BOOK is a song-filled celebration of friendship, fun, and adventure set in a lush and colorful world. Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's "Mowgli" stories, Disney's 19th animated masterpiece was the last animated feature that had Walt Disney's personal touch. The jubilant adventure begins when Mowgli, a little boy raised by wolves, is urged by his friend Bagheera, a wise old panther, to seek safety in the man village. Feeling very much at home in the jungle, Mowgli resists and runs off. Much to Bagheera's dismay, Mowgli meets a new friend with a happy-go-lucky philosophy of life -- Baloo the Bear, a lovable "jungle bum." Together, the three buddies find the journey back to civilization anything but civilized! They encounter a crazy orangutan, the hypnotic and sly snake Kaa, and the menacing Shere Khan! Fully restored for this 30th anniversary edition, this enduring classic swings with jazzy toe-tapping music, including the Academy Award(R)-nominated "The Bare Necessities," and the freewheeling "I Wan'na Be Like You"! A thrilling story for all ages, THE JUNGLE BOOK is an absolute necessity for your video collection.

Customer Review: Amazing Edition!

The work Disney did in restoring this was AMAZING!! The colors were jumping off the screen and you could really appreciate all the artistry done 40 years ago. The person I bought this for and I noticed the difference right away! Even if you have the early DVD release of this movie, getting this copy is well worth it!! If you are a fan of the movie, this DVD set is a must! The characters and songs are even better than they were before! I'm so glad that Disney is taking the time to restore these classics for a whole new generation!

Customer Review: The Jungle Book

Story of a boy who is raised by wolves in a jungle but after many adventures is finally reunited with other humans. Delightfully told with voices provided by Phil Harris, Louis Prima and others.

Apple MacBook Pro MA896LL/A 15" Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive)

Apple MacBook Pro MA896LL/A 15" Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive)
Stylishly and intelligently designed for mobile professionals, Apple's MacBook Pro gets a serious speed bump with the new, powerful Intel chipset (dubbed Santa Rosa), which provides a faster Core 2 Duo processor, longer battery life, and native support for 802.11n wireless connectivity. This model (MA896LL/A) also includes a new mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display measuring 15.4 inches and a state-of-the art NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card for more realistic graphics for animation and gaming. This MacBook Pro is powered by the new 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo T7700 processor and 2 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 memory--the fastest portable computer memory currently on the market (June 2007). But some things haven't changed: the trademark stunning aluminum enclosure that's is just one-inch thin, built-in iSight video camera, and Apple's magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter, which safely disconnects when under strain.

This MacBook Pro measures just 1 inch thin and weighs 5.4 pounds.
Other hardware features include a 160 GB hard drive, 8x SuperDrive for burning multiple disc formats, built-in 10/100/1000 BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet for high-speed networking, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), a FireWire 800 and a FireWire 400 port, an ExpressCard/34 expansion card slot for expansion solutions such as 3G wireless networking, and a DVI video output.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
The Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 processor has a 2.2 GHz processor speed, super-fast 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and an enormous 4 MB of Smart Cache, an L2 cache that can be shared between the cores as needed. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)

The Intel Core 2 Duo's 128-bit SSE3 vector engine handles 128-bit computations in a single clock cycle, accelerating data manipulation by simultaneously applying a single instruction to multiple data. And its two execution cores are designed to share resources and conserve power, helping it to achieve higher levels of performance since it uses fewer watts

The new 15-inch MacBook Pro offers a new mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display with an antiglare finish that's perfect for color-minded professionals.
Display and Graphics
The 15.4-inch widescreen TFT (non-glossy) display offers a native resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels and an antiglare widescreen display that's perfect for color-minded professionals. The new MacBook Pro display is backlit by light emitting diodes (LEDs), which gives it a lighter weight and more power efficiency than the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) which most notebooks employ. It's also better for the environment, thanks to its new mercury-free display.

Video and graphics are powered by the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT card, which is boosted by 256 MB of GDDR3 SDRAM. GDDR3 (Graphics Double Data Rate, version 3) is a graphics card-specific memory technology that's better able to deliver fluid frame rates for even the most advanced games and applications. The GeForce 8600M GT brings a new level of realism to the MacBook Pro with its 16-lane PCI Express architecture, 16x full screen anti-aliasing, 128-bit High Dynamic Range rendering, and a texture fill rate of up to 8.2 billion per second.

Hard Drive and Memory
The 160 GB Serial-ATA (SATA) hard drive (5400 RPM) provides more than enough space to store business-related documents and presentations, as well as offers space for a large digital audio and video library. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0. The 2 GB of PC5300 DDR2 RAM (two SO-DIMMs of 1 GB) have an industry-leading 667 MHz speed, and the RAM capacity can be increased to a whopping 4 GB.

Wireless Connectivity
The built-in 802.11n wireless networking provides up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g, but it's also backward-compatible with 802.11a/b/g routers, enabling you to communicate with the a wide variety of Wi-Fi resources. It works seamlessly with the new AirPort Extreme with 802.11n. Use the built-in Bluetooth wireless technology to connect to your PDA or cell phone, synchronize addresses, or download pictures from your cell phone. You can also use a wireless headset for iChat audio chats and VoIP calls as well as quickly share files with a colleague.

Video Conferencing with Built-in iSight
Artfully placed in the display bezel is an iSight camera, which enables easy video conferencing as well as allows you to snap pictures of yourself and create video podcasts. Using the iChat AV application, video conferencing is integrated into your iChat buddy list, so initiating a video conference is a breeze. iChat also lets you hold audio chats with up to 10 people and provides high-quality audio compression and full-duplex sound so conversation can flow naturally. For video podcasting, you can record a short clip using the iSight camera, then use iWeb to create a video blog entry or post your GarageBand-recorded podcast.

Apple Innovations

The magnetically connected MagSafe power adapter breaks cleanly away, without damage to either the cord or the MacBook Pro, if you trip over the cord..
The MacBook Pro is the culmination of years of refining hardware and software design to an integrated art. One of Apple's most celebrated innovations is the MagSafe power adapter connector with offers a magnetic connection instead of a physical one. So, if you happen to trip over a power cord, you won't send MacBook Pro flying off a table or desk--the cord simply disconnects, without damage to either the cord or the system. As an added nicety, this means less wear on the connectors.

Using two-fingered scrolling, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus with one hand.
The trackpad can tell if you've got one finger on the pedal, or two. With two, you can easily scroll around your documents or open contextual menus. When you need right-click functionality, simply open ÒKeyboard and MouseÓ in System Preferences and enable the secondary click preference.

The MacBook Pro has battery life that rivals most notebooks in its class. If you'd like to make that battery last even longer, Mac OS X has a few tricks up its sleeve. Go to System Preferences, click Energy Saver, and change battery optimization from Normal to Better Battery Life. Or tell MacBook Pro to reduce its screen brightness and give yourself a little more time untethered.

And with the included Apple Remote and Front Row software, you can show off your latest photos and access your iTunes music and playlists from across the room. You can also use it to watch downloaded movies and TV episodes as well as control playback of DVD movies. The Apple Remote features a minimalist six buttons--just press the Menu button to activate Front Row and begin to navigate through your media. You can even use the remote to control Keynote presentations in iWork '06.

Customer Review: MacBook Pro

The MacBook Pro is great, looks great and works well. The only thing is the new operating system wasn't loaded to the laptop but the disk was included. Other than that, everything is great. Love it.

Customer Review: MacBook Pro

I bought this computer one month ago and the price has dropped $305! I bought an Apple for its reputation as a reliable system. This one crashes regularly, especially when I attempt to use the help function. Also, it does not pick up wireless signals unless they are very, very strong. My six-year old Toshiba works better than this machine. Definitely not worth the premium paid.

Make Your Copywriting Projects Unbeatable...By Reading Old Comic Books?

Perhaps the best "power education" I've ever received on writing copy and using good old-fashioned psychology to sell with the written word was when I was just a kid.

You see, back then I used to collect a lot of comic books. And back then comic books had some of the best direct response ads you'll ever see.

They were written by just awesome copywriters who really understood people's hot buttons and exactly what people wanted to buy and how to get them to buy with just a few words.

In fact, I often tell people who use pay-per-click advertising to look at old comic book ads.

Why?

Because those copywriters really understood how to sell -- not just generate leads -- with just one or two sentences. In some cases, they did it with just a few words (Like the "Charles Atlas" ads, for example).

And that's why old comic book ads are just phenomenal as copywriting aids and tools.

Just make sure you look at the right ads.

These days -- like in most magazines and publications -- comic book ads are nothing but big image ads. They have more in common with big glossy business cards, than ads. And are a waste of time to look at.

Instead, seek out the comic books from 20+ years ago -- from the 1940's up until the late 1980's.

That was when the really powerful ads were run and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of various different products were sold with simple direct response ads in comic books.

Michael Senoff is a sought-after Internet marketer, interviewer and business coach with more than 50,000 students on four continents. For a limited time he is giving away the contents of the world?s largest digital swipe file of editorial style ads by the highest paid and most successful copywriters in the world like: Eugene Schwartz, Claude Hopkins, Gary Halbert, Brian Keith Voiles and John Carlton -- as well as old comic book ads and million-dollar sales letters from the early 1900's. These ads are yours to study and look at free at: http://hardtofindads.com

Halo 2, Vol. 1

Halo 2, Vol. 1
Further proof that the 15-year-old male is the nexus of contemporary popular entertainment, this anthology of music from and "inspired by" the sequel to the earth-conquering Halo saga also showcases how capably the video game industry can trump even Hollywood's vaunted production values. The original synth-heavy underscore by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori is filled with enough brooding, mock-Goth atmospherics, and pulsing exotica of indeterminate ethnicity to give the Hans Zimmer stable a run for their money, while a slate of (mostly) worthy rock star guest turns give it a welcome edge. Legendary axe-slinger Steve Vai's sinewy riffing punches up the reworked main theme and "Never Surrender," while alt.metal contenders Breaking Benjamin serve up the suitably dramatic inspired-by cut "Blow Me Away." But it's Incubus' four-part "Odyssey" suite that's the centerpiece, bridging 1970s prog and modern rock with its moody aura and evocative musical dramatics. --Jerry McCulley

Customer Review: Awesome. Fast

The Cd is Great. It arrived very fast, and faster than I what I expected

Customer Review: Great Soundtrack!

Playing the game is sweet, but being able to listen to the actual soundtrack is just as awesome. The score is arranged very well and really gets you into the game without playing it. Great CD!

Ghost Rider the Complete Comic Collection Win/Mac

Ghost Rider the Complete Comic Collection Win/Mac
The Ghost Rider: Complete Collection brings together every issue of the cult horror/supernatural comic. Stunt cyclist Johnny Blaze sold his soul to the Devil, to save the life of his best friend. In exchange, his soul was bonded to a powerful demon. Blaze became the Ghost Rider, using his power to fight demonic threats while trying to undo his curse. Years later, young Daniel Ketch met an angry spirit who sought vengeance on evil. This soul possessed Ketch & used him as the new Ghost Rider. Their adventures thrilled & shocked readers for three decades -- now they're compiled on this DVD set. Over 200 issues in all.

Customer Review: The INCOMPLETE Story of Ghost Rider

I wish so badly that I could give this product 5 stars but it can't be done. My disk has errors with at least 3 of the issues. This isn't a disaster but I paid for the complete collection; not the almost complete collection. Unfortunately, it looks like Marvel has stripped the rights to reproduce their books from GIT Corp, (Graphic Imaging Technology Incorporated), so it appears those who buy this disk are stuck. I'm left wondering, besides Marvel wanting to keep a tight fist around their property, that the incompetence of GIT has left them disenchanted? Certainly, it's a buyer beware situation with the product. Even if GIT wanted to remedy the situation they can't because they don't have permission to do anything about the corrupt files. See their forum and their non-response regarding a solution: www.gitcorp.com/forum. I guess all our hands are tide behind our backs?!?!?!

Is this a good buy beyond that? I begrudging say yes because it's truly fun to see the old issues and have it in a format, (although defective), that doesn't take up any real space. Buy your copy, but it will most likely be incomplete. BUMMER!!!

Customer Review: GREAT RELIVING OLD COMICS FROM CHILDHOOD!

I had been a fan of the original Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze) years ago, and even owned the Marvel Spotlights, and a number of the early issues of the mag in the day. I was even a fan of Daimon Hellstrom, the Son of Satan, who appears in a few of these issues (now why doesn't Marvel re-release that series?) After re-reading a few of the issues (with Satan as the primary conflict with the protaganist) I noticed something about the artwork I didn't catch the first time I read these. Having studied both mainstream religions and new religious movements, I noticed that in all cases, what is supposed to be the Satanic pentagram (the Star of Baphomet, with the central point facing down) is actually the Wiccan pentacle, with the central point facing upward. I don't know if this is ignorance, fear of evil portents if they rendered the Satanic star correctly in their illustrations, or something the Comics Code Authority just wouldn't permit them to publish if they wanted their seal. (Of course, as I write this, the Spiderman issue with the Gil Kane cover illustration of Harry Osborne popping pills comes to mind. Marvel couldn't get CCA approval for that story, so they printed it WITHOUT the seal, since they felt so strongly that that story just HAD to be told as they had envisioned it.)

In any case, having recently seen the movie with Nicholas Cage, the stories are even more entertaining in retrospect. Again, all the scans are from the printed comics in two-page spreads, and the first few issues at least, didn't seem to be the best copies from the print run.

Nonetheless, it's very refreshing to be able to read these again, knowing that they won't be worn by handling, as a 30+ year old physical magazine on cheap paper would. When you print the comics, you get the two-page spread with a light "Marvel" watermark appearing on the center of each page - so there's no worry of recreating the original comic books by printing them. (Although the bios are single pages without watermarks, which is nice.) Overall, this is more than well worth the cost.

I have visited Marvel's new online comic site, and I must admit, although the quality is very good, I don't like the idea of having to rent access to comics on someone else's server. Acrobat PDFs have become enough of a standard that we should be able to continue to access them in the future, while I fear that what Marvel is using on their website is proprietary and experimental, which may change in a few years: potentially rendering access to old titles obsolete. Marvel should re-license to GIT, but as another reviewer has suggested, provide the original artwork to scan, instead of old printed copies. (Unless of course, all they still have in their archives are copies of the printed comics).

Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing
As with Grease (1978) and Footloose (1984) before it, Dirty Dancing was a cultural phenomenon that now plays more like camp. That very campiness, though, is part of its biggest charm. And if the dancing in the movie doesn't seem particularly "dirty" by today's standards--or 1987's--it does take place in an era (the early '60s) when it would have. Frances "Baby" Houseman (Jennifer Grey, daughter of ageless hoofer Joel Grey) has been vacationing in the Catskills with her family for many years. Uneventfully. One summer, she falls under the sway (as it were) of dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze). Baby is a pampered pup, but Johnny is a man of the world. Baby's father, Jake (Law and Order's Jerry Orbach), can't see the basic decency in greaser Johnny that she can. It should come as no surprise to find that Baby, who can be as immature as her name, learns more about love and life--and dancing--from free-spirited Johnny than traditionalist Jake.

Dirty Dancing spawned two successful soundtracks, a short-lived TV series, and a stage musical. It may be predictable, but Grey and Swayze have chemistry, charisma, and all the right moves. It's a sometimes silly movie with occasionally mind-boggling dialogue--"No one puts Baby in a corner!"--that nonetheless carries an underlying message about tolerance and is filled with the kind of exuberant spirit that's hard for even the most cynical to resist. Not that they'd ever admit it. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Customer Review: I WIN!

I finally did it. I got him to watch a chick flick. Despite Mr. Bronson's constants groans of pain and disgust, he watched the whole thing (and survived!). This is one of my favorite movies of all time so it really meant a lot that I was able to share it with him. After 7 months of horror flicks, a little change was nice (i love you honey).

There's not much I can say about this movie that someone else hasn't already written. I love the music, the dancing is awesome, and the story is well written. For the longest time, I'd always cry at the end of the movie because, gosh darn it, I wanted my happy ending! Finding it (my happy ending) with Mr. Bronson made me look at it in a completely different way.

I'm done be mushy, I promise! I'm making myself sick with the immense sappiness of it all.

Customer Review: 'Dirty Dancing' (Artisan) Running time: 105 minutes

Review no. 293. Even twenty years following it's original release, this heart warming well produced and well scripted drama is fun to watch. Heck, you could watch this movie with anyone. Someone special you're dating, a grandparent, your kids, etc. 'Dirty Dancing' is one of those films that take place in a more innocent time {circa, 1963 in the Catskill Mountains} that's a nice clean family oriented movie, YET hasn't at all become stale or out dated through out the harsh test of time. It's cast of well reknown actors and actresses, Patrick Swayze (this movie made him a star), Jennifer Grey, Jerry Orbach and Cynthia Rhoades doesn't hurt either. Some of the beloved oldies through out this flick will send chills up and down your spine. Best scene is the last ten minutes during the big dance's major finale. Recommended, big time.

Customer Review: Spanish Immersion series- The path(or road to fluency (??)

I have enjoyed the other Spanish Immersion series very much. I have learned and grown in my language skills. However, this one, I think it is The road or path to Fluency, is only a listen to type of CD's. They are great to listen to but I was very disappointed that it is all about listening. As we all know in language learning, listening is only PART of it, one must repeat, repeat and repeat. Answering questions over the little conversations would have been so much better. This was done in the others. I am improving in listening skills, but the path to fluency has to be conversation repeated over and again. Thanks for listening, pam elmore

I don't need to say more than that. The side wood is not straight, it bows outward and the pegs are too short, so the shelves literally fall off the pegs and your DVDs go crashing to the floor. This thing is terrible and a waste of money, don't buy it.

    Black Hawk Down [Blu-ray]

    Black Hawk Down [Blu-ray]
Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down conveys the raw, chaotic urgency of ground-force battle in a worst-case scenario. With exacting detail, the film re-creates the American siege of the Somalian city of Mogadishu in October 1993, when a 45-minute mission turned into a 16-hour ordeal of bloody urban warfare. Helicopter-borne U.S. Rangers were assigned to capture key lieutenants of Somali warlord Muhammad Farrah Aidid, but when two Black Hawk choppers were felled by rocket-propelled grenades, the U.S. soldiers were forced to fend for themselves in the battle-torn streets of Mogadishu, attacked from all sides by armed Aidid supporters. Based on author Mark Bowden's bestselling account of the battle, Scott's riveting, action-packed film follows a sharp ensemble cast in some of the most authentic battle sequences ever filmed. The loss of 18 soldiers turned American opinion against further involvement in Somalia, but Black Hawk Down makes it clear that the men involved were undeniably heroic. --Jeff Shannon

    Customer Review: Blackhawk Down

This vdeo gives two views of the story from Somalia, Africa. The theatrical story, and the true story with interviews from the actual soldiers involved in the historic battle that claimed the lives of 19 US Soldiers. The book was written by Mark Bowen, of which the story is based on. The us Soldiers fought with honor and courage in a no win situation, in the middle of the city of Mogandishu, Somalia.

    Customer Review: Wow!

I am a huge special features junkie, so when I found out about this dvd I was jumping for joy! I love this movie and borrowed the standard version from my friend and was disappointed by the lack of special features. Here, there are deleted and extended scenes, behind the scenes footage, documentaries about the rangers that were there from the History Channel and more! It's simply fantastic! I would recommend this dvd for sure!

Customer Review: Duplicate Do not buy

Having previously ordered G.A Complete Second Series Uncut from Amazon I was so excited at the prospect of receiving this 'Season Three' Box Set - when it arrived I was cross - Its practically ALL the same episodes as the previous 'Season 2' box set I bought - Save your money - its a con!

Customer Review: Not up to standard.

The only episodes I had a problem with were "Some Kind of Miracle" and the finale.

SKOM jumped the shark for awhile. I just couldn't get into the whole "Meredith in limbo" thing. However, the whole Ellis: "You are anything but ordinary" embrace was wonderful.

I could say ZERO nice things about the finale. I am so sick of the whole Are-Meredith-and-Derek-together saga. Enough already! It was the same thing in the seasons one and two finale! Are they or aren't they? Make a choice, docs!

    ...okay, I'm done.

Customer Review: Utterly useless, the wood bows and the shelves fall.

I don't need to say more than that. The side wood is not straight, it bows outward and the pegs are too short, so the shelves literally fall off the pegs and your DVDs go crashing to the floor. This thing is terrible and a waste of money, don't buy it.

I received my order just on time and the product was in perfect condition. I am very satisfied. 5/5

Why HTML and CSS "How To" Books Suck

Most HTML and CSS books end up on bookshelves collecting dust as reference books. The last thing we need in the web development world is another HTML or CSS dictionary. While we all need one or two good references on our desks, they are not very good tutors. While I can learn about every HTML tag and every CSS selector, most books are not inherently practical enough. I need to be able to construct the WHOLE not just the parts. It does not serve the reader well if they cannot connect all the pieces together in a very practical way.

While these referential texts do include practical components(I can learn how to construct a link or how to add an image), they are often divorced from the concept of building a website as a whole.

Here is what any HTML or CSS book should accomplish:

*speak in a language beginners understand

*begin with the idea of showing how a complete website is built. Build a vision for the reader, then lead them through it step by step.

*emphasize developing CSS layouts. This is the most challenging topic and requires time and practice for beginners to master.

*practice show and tell. Most books explain the concept then have users practice. Forget that. Get the reader in there doing it first. Explain why it works later.

If at the end of reading the book, a reader has not successfully designed their first website, then the book is a failure.

    Goals for book authors:

*simplicity - beginners do not need to know the battles that go on within the CSS Standards working group.

*Do not explain every possibility. Save that stuff for the appendix or another advanced book.

*Practical thru and thru. A book of well written exercises serves better than lots of discourse.

How can a beginner evaluate a book?

*Look to see how much of the book is discourse versus exercises

*Does it focus on developing a complete website or does it just give you the pieces?

Customer Review: There's nothing like watching a 7-year old with a Webkinz

I recently got to spend some time with my 7-year old niece and watched her "wax lyrical" about how much she loves her Webkinz (she has three of them!). She took me over to the computer and showed me how the computer part works with the beagle Webkinz she named "Sam". I watched her zip around the computer playing all sorts of games to "make money" to pay for the food, clothes, and treats for her "pet".

The game teaches kids some of the responsibilities of having a pet (like making sure they get fed, taking them for a walk, spending time playing with them, etc.) while teaching computer skills at the same time. The carnival-like environment where they play games to make money for their pet is fun and provides enough variety to keep them coming back day after day.

I'd highly recommend Webkinz for any child who loves toy animals and wants to gain further experience on the computer.

    Customer Review: Webkinz Beagle

I bought this for my daughter when I couldn't find one around our home town. So, I ordered it thru the internet and Amazon. It was one of her favourite gifts! Not only can she cuddle with him, but she goes on the Webkinz website and creates a room for her virtual pet, and plays educational games that will build up W-$ for her to buy things for her pet!! She really enjoys playing on the website and she sleeps with the beagle every night! I even went and bought a chocolate lab webkinz for my son who is 3. He and his sister have a good time playing on the website and carrying their pets wherever they go!

    Customer Review: External Hard Drive

The Western Digital 2.0 GB external hard drive is great. It backs up my computer automatically every night with tons or room to spare to download music, movies, etc. I highly recommend this hard drive.

    Customer Review: Ticking Time Bomb

I received this drive for Christmas. It lasted two and a half months of light use before failing inexplicably. Blinking front indicator light, but the drive won't spin up and no computer I connect it to will recognize it. The day before it worked fine. Tech support was unhelpful, and I'm loathe to exchange the unit for another from the manufacturer. The drive is sealed inside the plastic shell, making removal difficult. I would not use this drive for anything valuable, it's cheaply made and untrustworthy.

The DEWALT® HVAC Certification Exam Guide is the most complete and comprehensive HVAC technician certification book available. This new ?standard? for the climate control industry will help readers pass the NATE, ICE, RSES Certification, HVAC Excellence, and HVAC Technician Licensing Exams. Innovative coverage also makes this exam guide extremely useful for studying and preparing for the state limited energy license and HVAC contractor licenses.

    Customer Review: A good start

This is a good book to start with to review for the NATE or other tests. It only has a limited number of questions though. I took the NATE Heat Pump test and passed with this books help, but it only had 50 sample questions for Heat Pump's and the NATE test had 100 questions. My suggestion is that there be more sample questions. I'd also like to see a reference for additional information if you don't understand a question. This book serves a purpose, but could be a better tool...

Customer Review: Industry Standard for the NATE exam

This book is absolutely the standard for the NATE Exam. Not only does it give you insight on the types of questions to study for, but it gives you information on how to beat the test writers at their own game. A very good read!

    Customer Review: great backstory

These three books provide a really interesting back-story to Halo games. It really helps you appreciate the games all the more.

    Customer Review: Captivating

Any anticipation of what this series offers should be thrown out the window. This group offers so much more than the games ever could. So many attachments to characters are developed throughout the series only to to be lost to a seemingly unwinable war. It would very much stand alone as a saga without ever having played the games in the sci-fi world, for young and old alike.

Subaru Legacy, 1990-1999: Includes Legacy Outback and Legacy Brighton (Haynes Manuals)
All Subaru Legacy models, including Legacy Outback and Legacy Brighton (90 - 98) Haynes offers the best coverage for cars, trucks, vans and SUVs in the market today. Each manual is written and photographed from "hands-on" experience gained by a complete teardown and rebuild of the vehicle. The first Haynes manual was written this way 40 years ago, and all the manuals continue to be produced this way, making Haynes the world leader in automotive repair information.

    Customer Review: Beginner handbook

I have not done as much work as I might have liked, so I have opened the book relatively little. In what little I have used it, it has been more reassuring than helpful--for instance, the book confirmed that the rear hatch lifter supports come without the entire ball-joint assembly, and that there is little one can do about this. Not really helpful, but reassuring for someone who wonders what is going on.

I consider the book satisfactory for its purposes, and I am glad I own it.

Customer Review: Haynes manuals explain best!

In my opinion, short of an actual manufacturer's shop manual, you can't beat a Haynes book for completeness. And, given that they are written for the non-professional, in some ways they are far superior. Based on complete engine tear-down and rebuild, and covering standard repairs and maintainence, I never buy anything else.

If you are even reasonably handy, like to save money on basic (or even complex) repairs, this is the book for you.

Customer Review: A Must Own Collection

These films are no doubt part of American Cinema at it's best!

I grew up watching these movies and even today when I sit back and watch them, I appreciate them even more as if it's my first time tunning in.

The locations, the acting, the screenplay all work perfectly. I don't think there are words left to describe how amazing this collection is on DVD.

I heard George Lucas is set to release these films on it's own soon, but why bother? Why spend your money on the same thing, even if your going to get some new bonus features. It's not like your getting a brand new movie.

I would recommend to wait until the 4th installment hits DVD shelves, then maybe it would be worth a purchase if it gets released into the box set. Till then...this collection is timeless!

    Customer Review: captions

At least on the set I'm watching, the captions on the extra disc are attempted but are NOT well done. It's apparent that they haven't been "cleaned up," so understanding can be iffy. I appreciate the effort, but it would be nice if the execution were better.

DEWALT HVAC Technician Certification Exam Guide (Dewalt Exam/Certification Series)

DEWALT HVAC Technician Certification Exam Guide (Dewalt Exam/Certification Series)

    The Flood

    AMPAD Corporation 22-157.

    Customer Review: Expensive but industructable

I have had one of these notebooks for 4 years and in that time it has had water spilled on it umpteen times, crushed, bent, thrown, etc and I think I have lost only 1 page. Only worth the money if you A. really treasure what you are going to write in your notebook, or B. the notebook is going to take major abuse.

Customer Review: You will look at everything in a whole new way.

Absolutely astonishing. When I purchase something I always look at the negative reviews and ask myself if it seems better than that. This is. This is not blood and gore. It is beauty and grace. You will see some things you have seen before in a whole new way. Don't let the negatives steer you away, even though some animals die in the making of this film. IT IS NATURE. DO YOU WANT THE WOLF TO STARVE AND D I E!

Customer Review: If you liked "March of the Penguins"...

see what a real cutting-edge nature documentary has to offer. Stunning. Educational. Not to be missed.

    Customer Review: Awesome teaching cartoon

I grew up with this cartoon and was happy to get it. The service was good as well.

Customer Review: Just like my childhood....

I loved to watch these when I was growing up and had Saturday mornings free to just be a kid.

Now I use them in my high school classes to introduce new topics and parts of speech (English Teacher) and my freshmen through seniors love them. They are still appropriate and fun. And it breaks up what can seem to be boring (grammar) at times.

I loved that I could get all the snippets in one DVD. It just makes job that much easier.

Hannah Montana "In Concert Collection" Deluxe Singing w/ "The Other Side of Me"

Hannah Montana "In Concert Collection" Deluxe Singing w/ "The Other Side of Me"
This Hannah Doll is dressed up for an electrifying performance and ready to rock the stage. Press a button to hear her sing her hit song, "The Other Side of Me." Includes Hannah doll in authentic outfits from T.V. show, Hannah Montana, microphone, poster and backstage pass. Requires 4 "AG13" button-cell batteries, included. Measures 13" tall.

Customer Review: another "gotta have" for the Hannah Montana set (meant facetiously)

I wish companies would set these toys to play more of the song. It is very annoying to hear the same two or three bars of an already constantly heard song. This was a Christmas gift, but I haven't seen or heard my daughter playing with this much.

    Customer Review: FUN with HANNAH!

My 6yo dd loves playing with this doll. She loves wearing the bracelet that came with it. My only complaint would be the back of her head is lacking hair...but that didn't make a difference with my little girl. She loves it. The doll sings very loud, which was surprising, but at least it's only a small portion of the song. I imagine that we will be collecting ALL the Hannah dolls now...

    Customer Review: baby book

This book is great for a baby teething. Corners of pages are rubberized for that "everything" goes in my mouth.

    Customer Review: Teether book

Cute idea for teething. The spine works great for chewing and the sides of the book. Doesn't stay open very well as a book, pages kind of slap back closed if you don't hold it open yourself. Overall cute toy for the price.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon [UMD for PSP]

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon [UMD for PSP]
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon PSP UMD Movie MODEL- 11559 VENDOR- UMD MOVIE FEATURES- Crouching Tiger PSP Movie An epic set against the breathtaking landscapes of ancient China, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon combines the exhilarating martial arts choreography by Yuen Wo-Ping (The Matrix) with the sensitivity and classical storytelling of an Ang Lee film. The result is something truly unexpected: romantic, emotionally powerful entertainment. Taiwanese filmmaker Ang Lee took a break from making Western period dramas to fashion this wild and woolly martial arts spectacular featuring special effects and action sequences courtesy of the choreographer of The Matrix (1999), Yuen Woo Ping. In the early 19th century, martial arts master Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-Fat) is about to retire and enter a life of meditation, though he quietly longs to avenge the death of his master, who was killed by Jade Fox (Cheng Pei-pei). He gives his sword, a fabled 400-year-old weapon known as Green Destiny, to his friend, fellow martial arts wizard and secret love Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh), so that she may deliver it to Sir Te (Sihung Lung). Upon arrival in Peking, Yu happens upon Jen (Zhang Ziyi), a vivacious, willful politicians daughter. That night, a mysterious masked thief swipes Green Destiny, with Yu in hot pursuit -- resulting in the first of several martial arts action set pieces during the film. Li arrives in Beijing and eventually discovers that Jen is not only the masked thief but is also in cahoots with the evil Jade. In spite of this, Li sees great talent in Jen as a fig

    Baby Mozart

    Baby Mozart
Mozart's music, both timeless and lovely, has been shown to affect people of all ages in positive ways. BABY MOZART(R) is a playful, imaginative introduction for infants and toddlers to the music of Mozart. Litle eyes will light up at the images of brightly colored toys and visually captivating objects, while little ears will love the carefully arranged music and amusing sound effects. The best-selling video of its kind, BABY MOZART is a rich source of stimulation that will delight your child time and again.

    Customer Review: Baby Love It

We purchased several more of the Baby Einstein videos bases on my daughters appreciation of this one. However, so far none of come close to Baby Mozart. My daughter has been engaged by the great combination of classical music and engaging images from 3 months to 9 months. I anticipate we will get a few more months out of it as well.

Customer Review: Baby Homer Simpson? DVDs not for babies even if "Einstein" is in the name...

The name "Brainy Baby" is a nice way to lull parents into feeling okay about their babies watching t.v. and videos, but according to the American Academy of Pediatrics babies should not be exposed to television at all before they're 2 years old! According to Time Magazine and the Boston Globe,

".. researchers found that, among babies ages 8 months to 16 months, every hour spent daily watching programs such as 'Brainy Baby' or 'Baby Einstein' translated into six to eight fewer words in their vocabularies as compared with other children their age."

Another study shows that brain wave activity in babies is actually slower when watching television than when *sleeping*, and yet another study shows that for every hour of television a baby watches a day, their chances of having an attention deficit disorder increases 10%. (I.e. 5 hours a day = 50% greater chance of ADHD). I like to take William Sears' advice that "relationships, not things, make babies smarter". The easiest way to make babies smarter? Carry them in a sling, because it is proven to make them much smarter since they are relating to you physically, emotionally, verbally, and visually.

For more information, you can google "television and baby studies", or see the Listmania list "Natural Parenting for Baby's First Year".

Customer Review: Don't believe everything you READ

This product is probably the most controversial electronic product out there !

With all the reviews I read: "self policing, etc" I was very hesitant to buy the drive.

BUT, I am sooooo happy I did.

The drive installed in 3 minutes. Since I have Windows Vista, I had to download the new Minionet software from the WD support site.

Once, I did the rest was easy. I saved a bunch of mp3 and backup of my DVDs. I was able to access these files (when logged in through my account) from several anywhere.. from work, from a friends house.

    Now for couple of cons:

    1) Wireless transfers can be very slow for large files (4-5GB files)

    2) If you log in yourself, you can access the media files from any computer with internet connection. If you send an "invite" to someone else, you can cannot share the media files.

Hope this helps with your purchase decision. I'm glad I bought it.

Customer Review: Avoid Unless You're a Masochist

I was a fairly loyal WD customer until this piece of junk drove me up the wall. All of the other complaints here are true:

    The Mionet software is useless

The much-touted remote access feature requires a monthly subscription --blatant false advertising

    It is unbelievably slow

And most important, it is just horribly unstable, throwing up all kinds of erratic behavior which will have you wasting hours to try and correct.

Avoid like the plague and shame on WD for subjecting an unsuspecting and (formerly) loyal customer to this abuse!!!

Customer Review: Compromises? Not In My View.

I did a fair amount of soul-searching before pulling the trigger on this purchase, in large part because of all the "compromises" apparently required to make as thin as this one is. For me, the MBA replaced a ThinkPad T-40, which has been as sturdy, consistent, and feature-laden as it is unattractive. My worry was that, though I was sure I would like the size and appearance of the MBA, maybe I would miss the T-40's feature set. Worse, I might miss a particular feature while traveling. So, I almost didn't buy the MBA.

I needn't have worried -- the MBA is simply incredible. As others have mentioned, the case is quite sturdy. Apple's engineers ingeniously relied on some of the internal components themselves as part of the skeleton for the case. This sounds scary, except that they were designed to serve both functions. The keyboard is crisp and comfortable (and keep in mind that I'm coming from a very well-regarded keyboard in the ThinkPad). The trackpad gestures more than make up for all of the extra keys the ThinkPad has. Although it takes some getting used to, the three-finger swipe, the two finger "right-click", pinching/expanding, etc., are all intuitive, comfortable, and fairly addictive. I've even started missing them on my desktop. The screen is really impressive -- a *big* improvement from my previous laptop. And battery life has been just fine -- definitely not the advertised five hours, but consistently well over three.

What do I miss? Honestly, not much. I've started using downloaded movies when I travel, including iTunes rentals. They all look just as good as a DVD did (on a laptop, at least) and are better for battery life. When I use an external mouse, I use a Bluetooth wireless model, so it doesn't take up the USB port. I was never a battery-swapper anyway, so that's not an issue. (I'll probably gripe about the built-in battery every couple of years when I replace it, then forget it the rest of the time.) And I can't save everything I have on the hard drive, though it holds everything that I would ever need on-the-go. I don't even miss the Ethernet port, as I travel with an Airport Express, and have for years. For me, the only real downside is the speed of opening applications. Opening most apps is noticeably and annoyingly slower than with my desktop (or, presumably, than all of the other Apple notebooks). However, once open, they do just fine. I now leave them open, which Apple says is fine, and speed is more than adequate.

As a disclaimer, I should mention that I'm a lawyer, so my usage doesn't involve heavy graphic or media work. I tend to run the Microsoft Office suite, Safari, iTunes, iPhoto, watch movies, and use the internet. For those types of things, the MBA comfortably meets my needs. I've even added VM Ware's Fusion program (running Windows XP) and, once loaded, it does the job as well. A speed demon this computer isn't, but if you use general productivity software and Apple's consumer applications, you'll probably be very happy.

    Customer Review: Great companion laptop

I have been looking for a computer to write with, going through a few different computers before finally settling on this one. The pluses and minuses have been covered well by all the great reviews here.

The computer itself is fantastic. What it lacks in ports, drives, battery life, etc it makes up for in quality bones. The screen is easily the best screen on any Mac laptop (this is something of a lottery though, and some airs are given better screens then others), and the build quality is also the best of any mac laptop imo. It feels sturdy in your hands, and the weight is just right.

Multitouch allows you to stop using the trackpad button altogether (and you'll never miss the 2nd button again). The keyboard backlight is very bright if needed, and is especially effective with the black keys. I use it with a network desktop/server so disk space doesn't matter to me. Also, I like the 1.6 b/c it's noticeably cooler than the 1.8 and the fans seem to run several hundred rpms lower on avg.

Overall, this is a good second computer. A LOT of people have had problems with their macbook airs, esp fan/heat issues. Proceed with caution, and assume there is a good chance you will need to exchange it (perhaps multiple times as some people have had to do). If you are willing to risk those issues, the potential reward can be worth it. It is a pleasure to use in bed w/ the lights out.
